The Importance of Productivity, Focus and Measurement
Harrison Barnes  |  Dated: 07-02-2009

When I was in school, I would study at least a couple of hours each day in the library.  While there, I noticed that the best students were always very focused.  They were not distracted like poorer students were.  A poor student looks around and looks up frequently.  The poor students try to start conversations, [...]

Daily Job Search Advice
Do Not Be Controlled By Your Need to Feel Significant
Click to Watch the Video Harrison Barnes

Harrison believes that one of the most important things to any human being is to feel important. We all have the need to feel significant and this need is something that really controls and governs many of our lives. You need to choose how to control your mind.  When you are looking for a job, the most important thing you can do is move away from being attached to the need to feel significant and move, instead, to a position where you are not attached.

Being focused on the work is incredibly important.  Being focused on your own significance is attachment, and all attachments eventually result in disappointment. People who are focused on the work rise to a higher level while those focused on their own significance never make it.

We all want to feel that we are unique and special in some way.  This makes us feel as if we have a purpose and meaning for our lives.  One of the largest challenges of our lives is making sure that we do not meet our need to feel significant in a way that is destructive.  For example, many people in their need to feel significant will try and be critical of others.

You need to understand that your need to feel significant is something that controls your life.  The best thing you can possibly do for your career is detach from this need to feel significant and realize how this is controlling so much of what happens to you.  More importantly, you need to do the work you love and live the life you want without being controlled by a need to be significant.  This will change everything for you and allow you to contribute to the world in a productive way.

How to Start a Career in Construction Safety

Starting a new career in construction safety always starts with construction first. Getting experience in construction, the methods and techniques, and tools involved is the first thing a person interested in construction safety should start. The field of construction safety is a quickly rising field and many are moving from the actual construction to safety.

ConstructionCrossing is a site that will transform your job search and your life.

Our goal is nothing less than to show you every job out there that fits what you want to do.

Unlike any other source, we show you information that is completely nonbiased — just all the jobs. While sites like Monster, CareerBuilder, TheLadders, Indeed, SimplyHired, and others are busy trying to get employers to pay hundreds of dollars to put a job on their site, we are putting those jobs on our site at no cost to employers. We are also taking jobs from every employer site and job site we can find and putting them on our site.

Whether you are seeking a new job, a better job, more job security, a dramatically increased income, a more flexible job, more responsibility — ConstructionCrossing can help you get there faster and more effectively than any other source.

ConstructionCrossing is transforming the careers and lives of thousands of people each week, each day — maybe people you know — so let us go to work for you.
