A graduate degree is required to become a construction site supervisor or to be in the administrative department or in the planning section. These positions usually require two to four years of sound experience. Some construction firms even require five to ten years experience.
A civil construction job demands lots of profound skills. You must have in depth knowledge of surveying, foundation, irrigation systems, building drawing, structural drawing, estimation and costing, hydraulics, works management etc. according to the type of job profile. Updated and thorough knowledge about construction materials is a must.

You may also have to handle multiple projects as well as billing issues. On site, you have to manage and execute the details in drawings within the mentioned deadline. When an unexpected problem occurs during a construction or drawing a plan, you have to solve it quickly.

A person in a civil construction job may have to assist in design schedule development as well as ensuring effective inter-department coordination. As a supervisor, you may also have to ensure the proper supply of materials to the construction site and review the methods of working and alternative materials etc., in order to maximize workflow output. You have to maintain and provide accurate reports to senior management.
