Job Profile
High School Graduate or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years experience working as a construction inspector in a CM capacity, with an emphasis in either highways, airports or water/wastewater projects. Compensation commensurate with years/type of experience and inspection certifications. Relocation package not provided for this position. Requires ability to read and understand project plans, specifications and standards and apply knowledge to construction inspection work to ensure compliance. Ability to read and understand a construction schedule. Has sound communication skills both written and verbal and able to record job-site information on written daily reports and photographs. Must be computer literate and be proficient in MS Word and Excel. Able to organize work on a computer. Must be able to work and communicate well with others. Position requires effective time-management, written communications skills, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Successful candidate will be articulate with professional presence, with solid decision-making, planning and organizational skills. The team, which is responsible for a wide range of work consists of approximately 2-4 members per team ranging in experience from one to sixteen years. This position will work under the supervision of the CM Project Manager. This position will provide support for construction management activities for multiple projects by ensuring Contractors perform work in accordance with the plans, specifications and standards set forth on each project. Tasks will include activities focused on multiple construction activities on a project • Ensure work, materials and equipment delivered to the site conforms with plans, specifications and standards. • Ensure compliance of Best Management Practices. • Record daily work activity by the Contractor via written reports and photographs. • Understand construction schedule and capable of determining potential delays to the project. • Communicate any deviation from plans, specifications and standards to Resident Engineer. • Keep records of as-built conditions and communicate with the Resident Engineer and Contractor to record them on red-line drawings. This position reports to the Resident Engineer who manages the day to day CM work on the project, but will work under the supervision of the appropriate Project Manager. Position will often interact with end users, other CM staff and clients during day to day activities and regularly scheduled progress meetings. The individual must possess previous construction inspection experience with an emphasis on standards, specifications and regulations relating to highways, airports and/or water/wastewater projects.
