Position Summary:

Supports the Area Distribution Construction and Engineering Departments by making contacts with designated residential and commercial customers who have requested service. Provides on-the-spot resolution of the customer's needs, including equipment inspection, installation or maintenance of meters, services and security lighting. In other cases, advises the customer, collects appropriate information and facilitates completion of the tasks by keeping Construction and/or staff informed to meet customer requirements in an efficient and timely manner.

Primary Duties:

Responsible to promote a safety culture by modeling behaviors consistent with IIF (Incident and Injury Free).

Executes and owns the small jobs process to ensure electric service needs are met in the most efficient and effective manner (small jobs include all residential services unless primary extension or easement is needed and commercial services up to 400 amp single phase unless easement is needed).

Provides support to the Area Construction Departments by meeting with designated residential and commercial customers to obtain appropriate information regarding the customer's service needs including due date, location of facilities, point of service, power requirements and the general scope of the project.

Provides support to the District Engineering and Construction Departments by resolving minor service needs on-the-spot and by collecting/sketching specific information describing the service needed or rendered where additional manpower and equipment requirements are necessary.

Explains basic engineering and construction requirements to customer, including Right of Way requirements, clearance, payments, etc.

Assures that the customer service date is met.

Communicates with other department personnel to ensure customers' projects receive proper attention and refers inquiries regarding new and existing customers outside the scope of this position to appropriate Project Leader.


High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

One (1) year of OGE Journeyman Lineman experience or (1) year of equivalent Journeyman Lineman experience (i.e. Electric Utility certified Journeyman Lineman).

Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with DOT certification required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong knowledge of the Company's Terms and Conditions of Service and Engineering.

Standards to ensure accurate communication with customers and internal departments.

Demonstrate ability to execute the work coordination process and their role as owner of small jobs.

Strong knowledge of the Standard Operating Practices to ensure all work is performed safely and properly (e.g., climbing poles, installing and connecting meters and service and troubleshooting service problems).

Demonstrated ability to read, understand and follow the National Electric Safety Code.

Computer skills with knowledge of MS-Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) SAP, CADS, and ArcFM and other company software.

Ability to perform physical and technical aspects of construction work including ability to climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet.

Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.

Ability to interact effectively and professionally with team members, leaders, and customers.

Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments as required by workload.

Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.

Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose problems, and resolve effectively.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Demonstrated ability to adjust and adapt across various working conditions and evolving business needs.

Ability to coach and mentor less experienced team members.

Ability to successfully complete required training programs.

Working Conditions:

May be required to work non-standard schedules to meet customers.

Required to work on-call rotation.

Required to working overtime as necessary to support service restoration.

May be required to work under hazardous conditions.

Exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.

Required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet.

Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Required to maintain permanent residence within a 30-minute driving limit to assigned service center to limit response time for emergency work, except for positions located outside the metro footprint where required to maintain a permanent residence within a 30-minute driving limit to any of the designated Metro service centers.
