SUMMARY:
The Environmental & Construction (Operations) Manager is a senior level specialist who coordinates the management of the organization’s contractual performance.
The Operations Manager must be able to identify and resolve problems from a holistic perspective, acknowledging that the political, social, legal and economic aspects of issues are as important as those pertaining to project performance. This position is expected to act as an official representative of the corporation to various clients. An important element of the role is to provide leadership and training to staff at all levels to ensure that all members of the workforce recognize their own contribution and are valued members of a successful team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Developing corporate strategies that meet the goals of the client
Leading the implementation of best management practices including adherence with environmental policies and practices
Coordinating all aspects of project resource allocation and use including staff, subcontractors and suppliers
Ensuring compliance with applicable contractual and Federal regulations
Auditing and reporting performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies
Managing relations with other senior management and internal staff
Developing and implementing marketing and sales strategies for business growth
Managing a diverse group of technical, administrative and craft workers
Maintaining a safe work environment for all staff

Job Requirements :
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Required (Minimum) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in sciences and/or engineering
Current 40 Hr HAZWOPPER
Individual should have overall management history with multiple staff and experience for annual revenues in excess of $20 mil
15 years’ experience in project management
Experience working with multiple Federal agencies
Familiarity with the Small Business Administraton (SBA) 8(a) program
Ability to perform technical reviews of data and plans
Ability to grow environmental business and add new clientele
Strong communication skills
Multiple years’ experience estimating Federal projects
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Have experience and expertise with contracts for environmental remediation
Have the ability to manage and perform simultaneous activities at multiple locations throughout the country
Have performed a minimum of three (3) projects between $5M-$10M
Have worked in Alaska for three (3) years
Have worked with Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) for three (3) years
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to operate conventional office equipment such as laptop or desktop computers, fax, phone, copiers, printers, and binding machines. Requires ability to see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients. Essential and marginal functions may require frequent sitting, walking or occasional standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, of items weighing as much at 25 pounds; near visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is often performed in office settings. Outdoor work is required in the inspection of various construction or remediation sites.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works outside with potential exposure to all weather conditions, including extreme cold. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places, and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks of electrical shock and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can be loud at times when operating equipment. Moderate travel may be required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Hires and supervises direct reports.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
