Description

Lochner, a leader in transportation engineering, is currently seeking a Inspector for a project in Providence, Rhode Island.

Responsibilities:

Observes and monitors field work activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, and other contract documents

Checks lines, grades, dimensions and elevations using standard surveying and field measuring equipment

Observes highway work zones and traffic control setups and reports potential issues to supervisor.

Tests and/or samples materials

Works under the direct supervision of a Field Project Engineer, Senior Inspector or Resident Engineer

Additional responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

Qualifications:

BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering or NICET Level II Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction

2 Years of Experience on Highway/Bridge Inspection is preferred.

Basic Computer Skills

Must possess a valid driver’s license and own vehicle to be used between field office and project site

Status:

This is a non-exempt, hourly position

Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, stoop, crawl, and lifting. The employee must frequently lift and/or move light equipment up to 30 pounds. Must be alert to equipment in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
