SouthWest Water Company (SWWC) is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to lead the growth of our Texas Water/Wastewater Utility Businesses. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the further growth of SouthWest Water's successful footprint in Texas with established water/wastewater utility ownership. The successful candidate will participate in implementing our acquisition strategic plan, seek out and evaluate new opportunities and negotiate acquisitions from Letter of Intent to closing deals. This is a telecommuting position based in Sugar Land, TX.

As a senior member of the SWWC Business Development team, the candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing growth strategy and business development plan for our Texas business in conjunction with overall SWWC strategic plan
  • Identifying water and wastewater utility acquisition opportunities primarily in the Texas market
  • Partnering with the Managing Director, Operations and Finance in the development of acquisition capture plans
  • Managing LOI development to deal close in compliance with SWWC policies
  • Serving as Project Manager on specific acquisition projects that may be outside of Texas
  • Participating in the development of acquisition execution planning and implementation planning with Operations and support functions
  • Facilitating communications plans ensuring appropriate information is provided and exchanged among key stakeholders and conducts acquisition status review meetings
  • Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of marketing and sale processes, industry trends and market place competition
  • Attending conferences and industry events to strengthen existing relationships, establish new relationships, and identify potential sellers
  • Maintaining a high profile in the Texas Water Utility sector

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management or related Engineering discipline
  • 7-10 years' related experience in business development. Water Utility/Utilities/Infrastructure/Energy related/Large Scale Residential Property Development sectors are a plus
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in prospecting and developing new business
  • Energetic, optimistic, self-motivated and a team player
  • Proven track record in account management, relationship development, project pursuit execution and closing deals
  • Network relationships and experience working with Municipalities, Developers and Utilities in Texas is a strong plus
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong skills in Project Management, Planning, and detailed oriented
  • Excellent sales, people and leadership skills
