We have an opportunity for a Construction Inspector to monitor contractor’s work and progress of construction to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and schedules.
Responsibilities:
Schedule, plan, coordinate and complete site inspections.
Coordinate third-party material testing inspections.
Measure and record pay quantities.
Monitor time & material (T&M) work.
Prepare daily reports.
Manage project photographic records.
Maintain up-to-date project records, as delegated by construction manager. This can include as-built drawings, material testing reports, miscellaneous inspection and testing reports, item quantity files, and others as determined by construction manager.
Provide daily site inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and codes.
Develop and issue Notices of Non-compliance and stop-work orders. Confer with the contractor, designer, owner, and/or governing authorities to explain the basis for the issuance of the above referenced notices and to discuss acceptable corrective actions.
Review contractor’s work procedures and methods.
What You’ll Need
At least three years related experience. Experience with water/wastewater projects, such as sewer rehabilitation, municipal projects, water and wastewater pipelines, pump stations, and/or water or wastewater treatment plants is strongly preferred.
Inspection certifications recommended, e.g. ICC, WABO, ACI, CPII, CPESC, CRSI, AWS, NICET, APWA, CESCL, Flagger or TCS
Knowledge of codes and regulations
Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
Knowledge of water/wastewater construction practices
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to timely communicate to various project parties including designer, owner, contractor and authorities having jurisdiction
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to enter, transcribe, record, store and maintain information in written and electronic forms
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Willingness to travel to off-site locations to confirm that work items are being performed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications
Ability to work in construction atmosphere with limited amenities
