Aspen Group is seeking an executive strategic business leader with an entrepreneurial drive, a deep alignment with our culture, and a track record of operational excellence in a design/build environment. This role involves leading in a fast-growing company, managing organizational risk, driving efficiency, and managing teams effectively.

The VP of Operations reports to the President, serves on the Executive Leadership Team, and provides direct leadership to our Architecture and Construction teams.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Key senior strategic business partner. In collaboration with executive and operational leadership, develops and executes strategic plans for Design and Construction to drive growth and operationalize Aspen Group’s vision.
  • Exceptional operational team leader and builder. Lead and mentor design and construction teams to ensure financial success, operational excellence, risk management, and the delivery of high-quality projects that create enthusiastic clients and partners.
  • Process Improvement and Scalable Structures – Leadership of continuous improvement of processes for operational efficiency and focusing on scalable systems and structures for growth.
  • Expert navigator of organizational dynamics – Adept at building strong relationships with stakeholders, clients, and teams across Operations in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Executive Level Sales Involvement – Works across regions to build a network of relationships with clients, potential clients, partners, and consultants. Participate actively in winning work and closing work as strategic opportunities present.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15+ years of relevant, progressive experience in integrated design/build environments with demonstrated experience leading complex commercial construction projects of at least $20M+.
  • At least 5 years of senior-level leadership experience.
  • Proven track record of successful project completions, high client satisfaction, and solid profit earnings.
  • Exceptionally strong business and financial acumen
  • Minimum Bachelors Degree in relevant field such as Architecture, Construction Management, Finance, or Business

Should be an excellent negotiator, and at the same time, a team builder. Strong in analytical and critical thinking skills. Proven ability to work with remote teams. A generalist at heart with a diverse range of skills.

Location, Travel, and Benefits

Position is based in our Frankfort, Illinois office in the south suburbs of Chicago, with a hybrid schedule work option available. Relocation packages available. Candidates who reside in other areas and are open to commuting regularly to Chicago, IL may be considered.

Regular travel, estimated at approximately 30%, required to be in-person with project teams, colleagues, clients, and perspective clients.
